The Canberra Bushwalking Club is partnering with Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve to provide a number of Mindjagari Track hikes for members of the public. The Mindjagari Track (meaning ‘Sky, clouds appear' in Ngunnawal) is a footpad route along the crest of the Tidbinbilla Range.
Each activity has a CBC leader and a helper. In case the activity is undersubscribed, the trip is open for CBC members to book. However, I will leave your booking as Waiting until a week prior to 16 Nov 2025.
A fantastic walk for the adventurous with rewarding views and beautiful mountain bushland.
From Mountain Creek carpark, we’ll make our way along the Camel’s Hump Firetrail to the new Spur 1 track. We’ll follow this track up to Tidbinbilla Peak and then make our way along the ridge to John’s Peak. We’ll then backtrack and return to the carpark the same way.
The track is quite steep in places but the vistas from the top are stunning, with views across to Canberra on the east, and the mountain ranges over to the north-west. We’ll also be rewarded with some stunning views of other sections of the Mindjagari Track, including Mt Tidbinbilla and Camel’s Hump.
In all, the hike is around 12-13km with a climb of 790 metres.
Please note that a pass is required for each vehicle entering the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (TNR). For further information and to purchase a pass, refer to the TNR website at https://www.tidbinbilla.act.gov.au/visit
