Let’s bash it out in one! A yearly tradition str etching back to 2002, the WBB demands only that we walk a minimum of 30k m, with a few hills. This year we’ll tackle the 34km and 900ish vertic al metres of the Murramarang SCW (more if we go over Durras Mountain). F rom Pretty Beach southwards to Maloney’s Beach, we can expect stunning coastal views, a variety of environs, plentiful wildlife from the might y humpback whale to the lowly tick, and, since Durras Lake is currently open to the ocean, a wade that might be waist deep. If we make good time a swim might be possible. To enable a 7am walking start, we’ll drive down on Friday afternoon and camp at Pretty Beach. We will need to do a car shuffle, leaving one or two cars at the finish. Please indicate if y ou’re willing to drive. This will be a very long and challenging day o f walking for fit walkers. Could take 9-12 hours. Daylight, 6am - 7:30pm . The track is Grade 4. Much of it is manicured trail, but there will be beach walking on sand, pebbles and rocks, and some short sections of ro ugh and/or slippery ocean rock, possibly with mild scrambling/rock hoppi ng to negotiate and waves to avoid.
