Wednesday Walk Medium/Hard - Bango Nature Reserve
Wed 13th Aug 2025
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks This off-track walk is a circuit featuring open forest, occasional grassy glades, small creeks, an old hut site, graceful cream-barked gums, grass trees and a trig that has grown out of a granite boulder. The walk is charming rather than spectacular, with the interest coming from the generally open walking, the tree-framed views of the rolling pastoral country that surrounds the reserve and the distinctive vegetation. All the terrain is CBC 'Medium' grade except for two 5 minute sections in two small rocky creeks; people uncomfortable with rock scrambling can walk beside the creeks. There is occasional rough ground, and a few fences to wriggle under. The walking pace will allow time for photography and possibly some time to practice log-walking (optional).
No need to book, but please contact the leader (lbgroom@gmail.com) before Wednesday if you are doing your first Wednesday Walk or have any doubts about your ability to complete the walk comfortably. Meet at the carpark at 2 O'Hanlon Place, Nicholls - near McDonalds at 8.20 am ready for a prompt 8.30 am departure. We should be back at Nicholls around 4 to 4.30 pm - though, no guarantees :-)
Weather while we are walking 9 to 14 degrees. Winds to 19 kph (but gentler in the forest). Part sun, part cloud, 30 % chance of up to 1 mm of rain in the morning.
