EASY/MEDIUM WEDNESDAY WALK - CALVARY RUINS, MIOWERA PINES, GRASS TREES AND MORE (NPA)

This Easy to Medium graded walk will be led by Terrylea Reynolds (contact terryleainwashington@hotmail.com or 0408 715 218) for the National Parks Association.

'Calvary' is a pise homestead site on the South Bullen Range. We will walk in via the crest of the range, through Barnes Hill and another knoll, over lovely open grassland. There are wonderful views to Gibraltar Peak and the Tidbinbilla Range. The descent to ‘Calvary’ is through open woodland and a little shrubbery but mainly footpad and fire trail. I will be avoiding the shrubbery as much as possible. We will then continue north-west for a short distance to inspect some interesting grass trees before heading back south-east via a lovely ridgeline of open eucalyptus woodland with gentle climbing. Then it's back to the cars via an undulating fire trail alongside the Miowera Pine Forest.

If we still have some energy to spare we'll head across to William Farrer's Grave. Climb: 40 m.

Note - there is a possibility that we may be given permission to visit the Lambrigg property, meet the owners and have a guided tour. Very exciting if we can do this. I won't know until Monday or Tuesday. If we can go then we may vary the earlier part of the walk so as to not make it too long a day and turn it from E/M to M/H.
