EASY/MEDIUM WEDNESDAY WALK - 16 JULY 2025 (BBC)
**No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks** This Easy to Medium graded walk will be led by Ian Moorcroft (0434 978 755, Ian_moorcroft@hotmail.com) on behalf of the Brindabella Bushwalking Club. A mostly easy meander around Cooleman Ridge, McQuoid’s Hill and Mt Arawang mainly along fire and designated walking trails with some steep ascents. There are excellent views of large parts of the Canberra region along the walk. Starting at the parking lot on Kathner Street we will head south on the Cooleman Ridge Bicentennial National Trail, before turning off in the direction of McQuoid’s Hill, which we will climb. After descending McQuoids Hill we skirt around the edges of suburbia before starting our climb up Mt Arawang. From Mt Arawang we will take a number of trails along the ridge past Mt Cooleman to the cars. I expect we will finish early in the afternoon. Grading – Distance about 13 km. Climb around 400 metres. BBC Grading of 7, CBC grading of M/E Weather Forecast: As of Saturday, partly cloudy, no rain forecast. Minimum -4, maximum 12. Meeting Place: Parking area near the southern end of Kathner Street, Chapman in time for 9:00am departure. Car Costs: Not Applicable Those doing their first Wednesday Walk must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk. There is a mailing list for Wednesday Walks. CBC Members wanting to go on this list can write to wednesday.walks'at'canberrabushwalkingclub.org (replacing 'at' by '@')
