MEDIUM/HARD WEDNESDAY WALK - 16 JULY 2025 (BBC)

**No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks** This Medium to Hard graded walk will be led by Henry Gardner (0431016975, henry.gardner585@gmail.com) on behalf of the Brindabella Bushwalking Club. This is a shorter, off-track walk that will hopefully find some patches of winter sun. We start by bashing our way up to the Tidbinbilla ridge from Woods Reserve to a north-facing hill immediately to the south of Stantons Gap. We then loop back northwards to reach Stantons Gap itself and then clamber our way directly up Pyramid Hill on a steep, boulder-strewn slope that will be in the shade and could be wet and icy. After views from the top of Pyramid Hill, we will journey down a small track to Devils Gap and then through relatively open scrubland, and a fire trail, towards Gibraltar Rocks to reach a large rock platform overlooking Tidbinbilla valley in the afternoon sun. Our return to Woods Reserve will traverse a disused firetrail down towards Corin Road. Some of the off-track part of this walk will be slow going, and gloves and gaiters are recommended. The scrub will be thick and scratchy in some parts and walkers need a good sense of balance and stamina for steep ascents. Length 9 km. Total climb 612m. BBC grading of 10. CBC grading of M/R. WEATHER: According to BOM on Sunday, the temperature in Canberra on the day of this walk will range from -3 to 13 degrees, with frost and the chance of fog in the morning and a mostly sunny afternoon. MAP: Tidbinbilla MEETING TIME AND PLACE: Meet at Kambah shops to leave at 9:00. DRIVING DISTANCE: 56 km (suggest $8 per passenger). People are welcome to meet at Woods Reserve at 9:30 but please email the leader first. Those doing their first Wednesday Walk must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk. There is a mailing list for Wednesday Walks. CBC Members wanting to go on this list can write to wednesday.walks'at'canberrabushwalkingclub.org (replacing 'at' by '@')
