This day cycle is the third one of three visiting the ACT Geoheritage sites that are listed by the Geological Society of Australia (ACT Division), which can be found at https://gsa.org.au/Public/Public/Geoheritage/ACT_Sites___Maps.aspx. The sites to be visited are 1, 2, 12, 29, 17 and 11 in Acton, Bruce and Aranda. Not all of the sites are in good shape, but we will visit them anyway.

Cycling will be a mix of bitumen, gravel and some short sections off-track. There are a couple of steep hills that may need to be walked (both up and down). A mountain or gravel bike is preferred and e-bikes are welcome. The terrain is not suitable for light-weight road bikes. Most cycling is not on trafficable roads but we do need to ride on some streets.

Helmets and a high-vis vest are compulsory.

You will need to bring water and morning tea. We will stop at a cafe somewhere. A bike lock may be desirable because we leave the bikes near a couple of the sites and walk to them.

Expect the ride to take about 5 hours.

A walk or similar activity with a duration of a day or part day. No overnight gear required.
