Mt Blundell Adit and 90r Cliff above Coree Creek
Sat 07th Jun 2025
Visit two spectacular sites off Blue Ridge near the NW ACT border. The Mt Blundell adit is a 40 metre long tunnel in the hillside, blasted in 1890 by prospectors looking for gold and other metals. Enter if you dare. There are huge cliffs in the bush overlooking both sides of upper Coree Creek. We’ll try to visit the top of the 90 metre high cliff on the east side of the creek. The adit involves a 100vm descent through the bush over 300m across the ground. Then back up. The cliff top descent and ascent is 200 vertical metres through scrub over 2.5km return. Unfortunately entry and exit to the areas is via fire trails. In total, around 13km and 785vm climb. For walkers stronger than me 😊.
