Mulligans Flat and Little Mulligans Nature Reserves
Sun 04th May 2025
Walk
The walk in the Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve starts at the Woodland Gate. It involves a mixture of on and off trail walking exploring the grassy woodlands in both the southern and northern sections of the reserve. We exit the sanctuary at Tree Creeper gate and follow the border trail north-east to Little Mulligans. We go off trail following several spurs and gullies slowly contouring to the west until joining the centenary trail and a side trip to a lookout point at Oak Hill. We head south east off trail through open woodlands to the link trail and back to our start. Gaiters and/or long pants are essential. The linear distance of 16km with an adjustment for elevation gain of 300m makes this equivalent to a 19km hike. Given the nature of the terrain (surface, vegetation, steepness) and the length/elevation gain/loss the hike is likely to be “moderately strenuous,” take approximately “4.5hrs” to complete and best suited for walkers with “a good level of fitness”, whom are “comfortable off track” and in the last 3 months have hiked regularly and completed successfully in the last month at least one hike equal to/or greater than 14km. Gaiters and/or long pants are essential.
A walk or similar activity with a duration of a day or part day. No overnight gear required.
