These crossings are best done with a walking/hiking po le and you should be prepared to get wet possibly up to your knees.  Ga iters and gloves are highly recommended for the scramble up out of Compo Canyon and, if it's warm enough, you may wish to have a swim at Gelign ite Crossing on the way back. Some steep river banks will be encountered . Climb: about 430m. Map: Captains Flat.
