London Arch and Compo Canyon
Sun 20th Apr 2025
We start this walk at the London Arch Car Park, Googong and visit London Arch on our way to Compo Cayon. We need to cross the Queanbeyan river twice on this walk - first at a rock bar and secondly at Gelignite Crossing. These crossings are best done with a walking/hiking pole and you should be prepared to get wet possibly up to your knees. Gaiters and gloves are highly recommended for the scramble up out of Compo Canyon and, if it's warm enough, you may wish to have a swim at Gelignite Crossing on the way back. Some steep river banks will be encountered. Climb: about 430m. Map: Captains Flat. Meet 9am at the London Bridge Woolshed Car Park (toilets available) GR 047679 or at the locked gate if you can't get to the car park (GR 044686).
