Short notice walk – Mt Taylor; Pack Training 'SHIT' (Semi-High Intensity Training)

Part-day, Walk

Meeting new people as a walk Leader can make it difficult to assess the fitness and skills of new walkers. This event is designed to help train and assess your abilities, ensuring that the walk leader is confident in your capacity to handle the future challenging off-track walks in Namadgi and Tidbinbilla.

We’ll be walking off-track & on narrow, rough paths to really test your 'off-track skills', including a few small sections of BushBashing. Be ready for a tough, rugged experience!

At the same time, we’ll be training for Multi-days hiking with pack training. The new standard set by the NSW government is a 15kg pack (with a Test; 6km walk, with step-ups, step over and crawl-under), which we’ll use to measure and build your endurance.

It’s tough if you haven’t walked with the Canberra BushWalking club before, and with No club member as a reference, No one knows your fitness level or off-track walking skills.
That’s exactly what this event is here to help with.

A walk or similar activity with a duration of a day or part day. No overnight gear required.
