Goorooyarroo and the 9 knolls

Part-day walk
Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve is an 829-hectare protected area located in north-eastern Canberra adjoining Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve to the north-west, together forming a continuous protected area extending across more than 18 kmĀ² of woodland. This loop walk explores various aspects of the grassy woodlands of this reserve along fire trails, foot pads and off-trail criss-crossing the undulating landscape with at times steep sections and rocky/grassy slopes that are slippery and/or unstable under foot. Walking pole(s) might be useful at times and gaiters or long pants a must to protect legs. The linear distance of 11km with an adjustment for elevation gain of 400m makes this equivalent to a 15km hike. Given the nature of the terrain (surface, vegetation, steepness) and the length/elevation gain/loss the hike is likely to be moderately demanding, take approximately 3.5-4hrs to complete and best suited for walkers with a moderate level of fitness, whom are comfortable off track, hike/walk regularly and have completed at least one hike of 10km in distance in the last month
