Thu 05th Sep 2024
Update 27 August.: previously booked out, there are now two spots available for this walk.
The Murramarang South Coast Walk is a 34 km 3 night multi-day coastal hike with camping. Participants are expected to carry own food & water for the duration of the walk which commences from Pretty Beach at the northern end to Maloney’s Beach in the south.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Depart Canberra and drive 2:30 hours to Pretty Beach Campground (near Kioloa, arrival ~10:30am). Car shuffle: one car drives directly to the end point (Maloneys Beach). The other two cars drop off people and gear at Pretty Beach. Two cars and drivers only drive to Maloneys Beach to leave two cars at Maloneys Beach. Four people in one car drive back to start at Pretty Beach and join the group.
In afternoon, exploration of Snapper Point Walking Track to Merry Beach. Booking for large or medium tent site at Pretty Beach Campground suitable for six tents : $69.70
Day 2: Walk to 8km to Pebbly Beach for lunch and swim. Walk another 3km to Depot Beach. Enjoy yourself all afternoon. We stay at Depot Beach. Booking for a large site is $35.
Day 3: To cross at Durras North we need to keep an eye on the tide (https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Durras-North/tides/latest ) walk ~7km to South Durras for lunch... there are now beaches every few km. Walk another 9km to Oakey Beach. We camp here.. Tent only, $6 per night per person. No water (!) at this campsite - suggest to take an extra 3-4L at South Durras.
Day 4: 10km to Maloneys Beach - perhaps have a coffee there. One car can drive home to CBR directly, the other car drives back to Pretty Beach to drop off two people there at the first car.
