Black Mountain Reserve in early Spring!
Sat 14th Sep 2024
Part-day,Walk
The walk is mostly a combination of undulating fire trails and single tracks, offering various vantage points to the Lake, Arboretum and towards the Belconnen skyline. Commencing from near the Actew Sub-Station on Frith Road, we head towards the Botanic Gardens fire trail, to link up with the Bushland Nature Walk and then the Lake View Track. It’s bit of a puff up towards the lower summit car park. We then join a lovely shaded forest loop (anti-clock wise direction) below the tower. Just short of completing a full loop, we descend to the Upper Woodlands Track and then have a steady climb on fire trail before criss-crossing on single tracks through the western & northern parts of the reserve. Also a few sections off trail through open woodlands and clumpy grass before returning to our starting point. Should be a nice display of wattles in flower!
