The primary aim of this walk is to complete the mapping out of a loop route to Mt Rob Roy from t he North-eastern part of the reserve. Starting in the north, we head S/W along foot pads until entering the reserve proper. We head off-trail to the SE and follow a series of gullies and spurs ascending our first kno ll. We descend SE until we briefly join the Lance Bates Track. We go off -trail crossing a creek line to begin our steep ascent to the ridge line of the reserve, along a series of spurs and knolls that does a long arc h to the south west. For a brief respite from off-trail walking we follo w the Rob Roy Eco Track to Mt Rob Roy. After a break we return along the Eco track N/W before heading off trail again along spurs, gullies and k nolls to return to the start. The walk will be predominately off-trail, criss-crossing the undulating landscape with some very steep sections an d rocky/grassy slopes that are slippery and/or unstable under foot with varying thickness of vegetation from open woody grasslands to moderate-t hick scrub. Walking pole(s) and gloves might be useful at times and gait ers and/or long pants a must to protect legs. Due to the nature of the t errain, length of the walk and elevation gain/loss this walk will be str enuous and best suited for walkers with a high level of fitness, comfort able off track and in the last month have hiked regularly and completed successfully at least one hike equivalent to a club grading of medium/me dium.
