Grasstree Lookout, Mt McDonald and Cotter views
Sat 27th Jul 2024
Part-day walk
A morning walk providing extensive views in all directions - Bullen Range, Cotter River, Murrumbidgee River, Cotter Dam, Hardy Range, Brindabella Range, Tidbinbilla. We initially follow part of the Cotter Discovery Trail, then cross Brindabella Road making our way to a small unnamed knoll before heading off trail for a short section to link up with the formed trail to Grasstree lookout in Stoney Creek Nature Reserve. We then cross back over Brindabella Road, to make our wIay towards the Lower Cotter catchment lookout. Taking a breathier here, before a steady climb up to Mt McDonald. We complete a loop all on fire trail, through the Lower Cotter catchment before returning to our starting point via Grasstree Lookout. Some parts of this walk are steep, gravelly, and can be slippery, so a pole is handy, especially for the downhill.
