YANKEE HAT SOUTH
Sun 26th May 2024
Walk
We start at Yankee Hat car park, following the old walking track to cross the Gudgenby grassland and Bogong Creek, this is a wet and muddy crossing. We follow the track for a short while and then head off track NW and ascend up between Yankee Hat North and South. We should reach the summit about mid-day for lunch, its quite exposed and can be cold but the views are well worth it, you can just see the Snowy Mtns on a clear day. The regrowth is heavy so be prepared for a lot of bush bashing and some rock scrambling. We returning to the valley floor and on to the cars by the same route.
The regrowth since the fires make to a hard walk and a long day, please consider your fitness when deciding if this walk is for you. The timings incl driving time.
