BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-//https://mybilby.com//Activity Downloader//EN CALSCALE:GREGORIAN BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:The Onion and Tinderry Peak [UPDATE NEW DATE] UID:20240619T070000-2736@https://mybilby.com DTSTART:20240619T070000 DTEND:20240619T170000 DTSTAMP:20240619T070000 DESCRIPTION:[This walk has been rescheduled from 12 June due to weather at the time.] Starting from the Tinderry Rd we'll take a fire trail for 4km before peeling offtrack to the Onion and the on to Tinderry Peak (16 19). We'll then continue offtrack across slaps and rocky terrain to spot height 1325 to search for my compass (which I inadvertently left behind a couple of years ago). We then continueto a firetrail which we'll take back to the cars. All up around 16.5km in distance and at least 600m of climbing - some on a fire trail , some off track, and some of it quite steep. The views should make up for climbing and the dense regrowth we m ay need to push through. As it'll be winter and we'll be above 1000m we' ll need to deal with very cold temps and have an early start. As much of the walk involves off track and is exploratory for the leader, particip ants need to be experienced at off track walking, reasonably fit and sui tably prepared to cope with whatever the terrain might throw at us. Car pooling from the Hume petrol station on the Monaro Hwy and further carpo oling from Michaelago General Store (due to limited carparking at the st art of the walk). Note 1: This is an irregular capped X/M-H (exploratory and moderate to hard grade) walk sponsored by the CBC that is not part of the existing inter-club Wednesday Walks program. Note 2: If we get to Tinderry Peak and run out of time to complete the intended route, we'll take a shorter route back to the car.
