[There are 8 confirmed participants; the trip is able to accommodate ~2 more participants.] This trip will focus on hiking in the spectacular region of Svaneti in Georgia, in the Caucasus Mountains. Svaneti is arguably the most beautiful part of Georgia and is the country’s primary hiking location. As well as spectacular mountain landscapes, it features picturesque historic villages. We have engaged an experienced local trekking company to guide and provide logistics for a series of three multi-day hikes, with a rest day between each of the three treks. The treks will include some more popular hiking areas (in the region of the Svaneti capital, Mestia, and the settlements of Mazeri and Ushguli) as well as in more remote and less frequented areas (such as Racha and Tobavarchkili Lakes). Accommodation will be a mix of guesthouses and camping. Horses/vehicles will be used to carry overnight and other gear for the treks, so we will be walking with daypacks only. The treks will be physically strenuous, with large ascents and descents. Participants will need to be fit and should have experience doing multi-day walks.
