Scabby Range Peaks and Lakes
Thu 25th Apr 2024
(TRIP FULL - waitlist started) A four day, off-track pack walk to the remote Scabby Range in the Namadgi National Park wilderness area. Starting from Yankee Hat carpark, we head up Bogong Creek under Mt Gudgenby and cross over to Sams Creek. From there we climb up to Scabby Range Lake (unoffically called Scabby Tarn) and camp there for two nights. The following day with day packs, we explore the range, Mt Scabby and surrounds, and Mt Kelly later in the afternoon. Day 3 we head down to Sams Creek and follow it downstream for several kms and select a campsite for the evening camp. In the afternoon and with day packs, we will attempt an afternoon climb to Mt Mouat (aka The Fortress). Day 4 we return to the cars via Naas Ck and Gudgenby saddle.
Note this walk is for experienced, fit, off-track walkers accustomed to thick fire affected regrowth scrub and rock scrambling.
