Tasmania - Mt Anne Circuit and Mt Gould-Pine Valley Circuit

Fri 08th Dec 2023

Completed 13 Days+
Walk

A 13-day trip to Tasmania, focused on the Mt Anne Circuit (5 days) in Tasmania's southwest and Mt Gould-Pine Valley circuit (5-6 days) in the southern part of Cradle Mt-Lake St Clair National Park. The Mt Anne Circuit is a recognised route and will include nights at High Camp Hut, Shelf Camp, Lonely Tarns and Lake Judd. The proposed route for Mt Gould-Pine Valley is Narcissus Hut-Mt Gould Plateau-Mt Gould-Minotaur-Parthenon-Pine Valley. Optional elements, which will depend on weather, timing and disposition of the group, include (on the Mt Anne Circuit) climbing Mt Anne summit and Lot's Wife and (on the Mt Gould-Pine Valley circuit) diversions to Lake Marion, the Guardians, Labyrinth and the Acropolis. Time and logistics permitting, we might consider doing the one-day Mt Murchison Walk, north of Queenstown, which has been described as 'Tasmania's best day-walk'. These walks promise spectacular vistas and striking landscapes, though they are subject to adverse weather conditions. They are demanding walks, requiring solid rock scrambling skills. Participants need to be experienced at multi-day walks and negotiating rough terrain.
