Morton National Park - Three Caves and Lost World (aka The Passages of Time) TRIP FULL
Sat 27th May 2023
For the Canberra Aboriginal Reconciliation Long Weekend, I’m reprising a three day walk in the Ettrema Wilderness that I did in 2018. We’ll visit some caves and interesting rocky pagoda formations. We leave cars at the locked gate on Greta Road in the Sassafras area and head to the amazingly big Discovery Cave on Bundundah Creek for our first camp. The next day we head to the Passages of Time to explore the pagodas. From there we walk to Moore's Creek to camp at or near Bollards Waterfall Cave. The final day we return to the car by a mix of offtrack and track. There are no big ascents; maybe at most up to 200m for a single climb. If we have time we will do a sidetrip to a waterfall (Fitzies). There'll be rockhopping in creeks and pushing through scrub and regrowth. All up around 30km of walking over 3 days, not including sidetrips. Individual pack weight limits will apply for group safety. Given the off track terrain, participants should have good fitness and bushwalking experience with overnight packs. This walk is also on the Coast and Mountain Walkers program.
