Part-day walk

CBC is partnering with ACTArchives to facilitate a walk to the ACT/NSW border during Heritage Week. I’d like to do a final recce so I don’t make a fool of myself. Come along for a half-day wander if you’re free. POIs include border marker X4, Old Joe Hill and Gecko Hills (see photo). Around 4 hours walking. Please book.

I’m also looking for a CBC walk leader to come with me on the Heritage Week walk (Friday 14 April) to offer the maximum of 20 guests options to either walk a bit further (option 2 or 4 led by me), or return the same way/close to the same way they came in (option 1 or 3 led by you). Interested? Let me know.

Options (descriptions for Heritage Week walk) to be explored are:
1 Horse Park Drive via Mandawari Gate, Maga Maga Gate to crest and border marker X4. Return the same way. Around 4.5km and 150vm. Management trail, climb through grasslands.
2 Horse Park Drive via Mandawari Gate, Maga Maga Gate to crest and border marker X4. Then North via steep climb to Old Joe Hill. Return the same way. Around 6.5km and 250vm. Management trail, climb through grasslands. Steep climb and descent through grasslands.
3 Horse Park Drive via Mandawari Gate, Maga Maga Gate to crest and border marker X4. Return via Gecko Hills and Baray Gate. Around 4km and 170vm. Management trail, climb through grasslands, walk through open woodland.
4. Horse Park Drive via Mandawari Gate, Maga Maga Gate to crest and border marker X4. Then North via steep climb to Old Joe Hill. Very steep descent via Buru Gate and return via the Canberra Centenary Trail. Around 7km and 250vm. Management trail, climb through grasslands, walk through open woodland with steep climb and descent.
