It's a long drive to this walk (2h), but it has a lot of points of interest. First, we visit a number of lookouts of Fitzroy, Twin and Lady Hordern Falls. The lyrebirds which live here may give us a concert. Then we follow fire trails southward to a stone ruin, whose history remains mysterious. Soon after, we cross a fertile basalt intrusion where (if it survived the fires) rainforest grows on top of the plateau (dicksonia tree ferns, pictured). The intrusion is clearly identifiable in Six maps satellite view. Finally, we reach a point (map ref 666598) above Manandoo Falls, which may or may not be hidden in the shadows beneath the cliffs. In good weather there are excellent views across the Yarrunga valley to the bold sandstone faces of Mt Carrialoo.

THIS INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT. This walk has car pooling with home pickups (where feasible). ONLY BOOK IF WILLING to share your a) real name with all participants b) email, phone number and street address with the leader and others in the same vehicle as you and c) vehicle and emergency contact details with the leader. A BOOKING WILL NOT BE APPROVED until all this information is visible to the leader in Bilby.
